2 babies need help for urgent heart operations

GEORGE TOWN: The families of two babies are appealing for donations to enable them to undergo surgeries to correct their heart defects.


Fourteen-day-old Nurul Najwa Ahmad Kamalsari suffers from a complex heart disease and needs urgent surgery to correct the problem.

The estimated cost of the surgery is RM45,000 to RM48,000.

Her father, Ahmad Kamalsari Abdul Jamal, 38, is a factory operator in Kuala Kangsar, Perak, earning RM850 monthly, while her mother, Julia Abd Rani, 36, is a housewife.
The family has two other children, aged 7 and 9.

Meanwhile, 50-day-old Muham-mad Shukri Hashim has multiple heart defects and is unable to gain weight. He also suffers from Down's Syndrome.

Shukri needs to repair all the heart defects through a surgery, estimated to cost RM38,000 to RM40,000.

His father, Hashim Mohd Nor, 40, works as a store assistant in a factory in Bayan Lepas, Penang, earning RM1,340 monthly, while his mother Siti Hajar Ibrahim, 37, is a factory operator in Kulim, Kedah, earning RM1,190 a month.

The couple have two other children, aged 2 and 4.
